Dave Hawkins - Herbalist

Dave Hawkins MH, CNC

Dave Hawkins is owner of Mother Earth Foods and has been a practicing herbalist for over 30 years. He has served as past president of the West Virginia Herb Association and is a Certified Nutritional Consultant. In 2001, he and his wife, Dr. Bonnie Buchman, a naturopath, opened Integrative Holistic Health Services, a multi-faceted holistic health center.

In addition to his retail business and consulting practice, Dave is also featured as a guest lecturer and teacher throughout West Virginia and Ohio, having recently taught courses at both West Virginia University's Integrative Medicine Program and Marshall University. In September, 2003, David granted an exclusive interview to Deborah Ray on her nationally syndicated radio program, Here's To Your Health.

Dave currently has a weekly call in radio program called Ask The Experts. This call in radio program tackles current health issues and questions. Ask the Experts covers new health topics every week featuring a varity of top health professionals.

Dave began his studies into natural healing in the early seventies. He was very curious about body systems and how to prevent disease processes. Exploring the eastern approach to wellness, he practiced yoga for many years. He became a strict vegetarian and experimented with numerous diet plans including fasting and macrobiotics. He investigated the energetics of different foods based on traditional (Ayurveda, Chinese, Native American Indian) systems from around the world.

Dave's most recent project is Cedar Lane Herb Farm. A work-in-progress, the Farm will eventually be a source of raw materials and production site for his line of botanical extracts and formulas, marketed under the name Earthworks, and will also serve as a teaching facility.
